double charged filing fee
Unbeknownst to me, I purchased a bad TurboTax program. When I went to prepare my son's state taxes it wouldn't let me pay to download the state tax forms. I then called TurboTax support and over 2 days, on the phone for 6 hours, 6 specialists later and a legitimate desktop program purchased, I prepaid $25 for a California state tax return filing fee.
Well, once I had my son's taxes ready to transmit there was no place to enter that I had already prepaid the filing fee so I ended up paying it again, included with Audit Defense, for $20. I would like a refund and have already talked with TurboTax support AGAIN and they couldn't help me and even mentioned that they weren't sure if TurboTax even gave refunds, then sent me on to the Tax Audit department, who couldn't help me either.
How hard is it to initiate a refund? Intuit/TurboTax customer support is really hard to navigate especially because you can't just deal with one specialist. Everytime you call back you get a new specialist and have to describe your issue all over again. It's extremely frustrating. Because it's a huge corporation it certainly feels like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing and customers get lost in the giant labyrinth.
I emailed the executive board with this issue and hope they get back to me. Has anyone else had this happen and how did you deal with it if so?
