Line 27 is for the Earned Income Credit. If it was blank all the qualifications to receive the EIC may not have been met. To qualify for the EIC, you must meet the following:
- Be between the ages of 25 and 65
- Lived in the United States for more than half the year
- Earned Income less than $66,819 for Married Filing Joint or $59,599 for Single or Head of Household
- Received less than $11,600 of investment income
- You did not file as Married Filing Separate
- You are not claimed as a dependent on someone else's return.
