TaxAudit expiration date
I purchased my TaxAudit Defense when I filed my 2024 taxes this month. I got the package, and noticed the expiration date is 4/15/2026. The old Tax Audit certificates (2022) were for while the statue of limitations (3 years for non fraud filing) was effective. apparently this change was made in 2023. Since the IRS typically will ask questions about missing income or math errors in the first year, actual audits usually (unless IRS priorities have changed) occur in year 2 and 3. You only have 60 days to request a refund from your purchase date with Intuit. I was wondering if TaxAudit would comment on this change and why they changed the language on the expiration date. I feel it substantially changes the value of their program, and I will probably pursue a refund. I also feel this change was not adequately disclosed in the TT program when it was marketed.
What do other people think about this change? Is it not reasonable to expect TaxAudit to defend the return till it is no longer subject to (nonfraud) audit?
