After you file
If you selected the up to 5 days early option, here is how the process works. With TurboTax’s Up to 5 Days Early, customers have the flexibility to have their federal refund deposited into their preferred bank account up to 5 days earlier than the date their refund would have arrived if sent from the IRS directly. The fee is taken out of customers’ refund amount only if their refund is delivered at least one day early.
Once the IRS approves a customer’s refund, TurboTax is notified and we’ll attempt to transfer their refund to their bank account. TurboTax sends customers an email letting them know if we were able to successfully deliver their refund early, or if we were unable to expedite their refund. If we were successfully able to deliver their refund early, customers can expect to see their refund in their bank account the same day they received an email from us.
If we are unable to expedite their refund, their refund will be delivered by the date provided in the IRS Where’s My Refund site and customers won’t be charged for the Up to 5 Days Early service. They’ll also see a notice that “We could not expedite your refund. No 5 day early fee was charged” as part of your TurboTax refund tracker.
