Is 1099-Q filled by turbotax included in e-file submission?
In my 2022 tax return, I did not fill in my beneficiary's other education expenses(room, board, books,...) such that my tax went up after entering Form 1099-Q's numbers even though my 529 distributions were 100% used in the beneficiary's higher education expenses. Now I updated the number and plan to amend it from my 2022 turbotax desktop version. The total distribution number is equal to the total expense on the updated tax return.
At the end of the amendment process, it asked me "Explanation of Changes". Should I let the IRS know where my 1099-Q was updated?
Form1099-Q created by turbotax had wrong input on 2c. It was "0" for "high education expenses applied", and now the number in 2c is the same as the one on line 1 "total distribution".
I am not quite sure if the filled 1099-Q will be submitted via e-file? What would be the better "Explanation of Changes" for my amendment? Any suggestions? Or is it better to submit it via mail?
