Another TurboTax user posted the following in the Apple Community (I quote):

[Quote] I have a MacPro early 2015 and it will only update to Monterey 12.7.6.

TurboTax wrote me: "We’ll be updating our macOS system requirements for TurboTax Desktop products

for tax year 2024. For 2024 tax returns prepared with TurboTax Desktop for Mac, macOS Ventura 13 or later will be required. At TurboTax, the security of our customers’ data is a top priority. Apple has announced they will no longer provide security updates or support for macOS Monterey 12 as of November 2024. As a result, our latest TurboTax Desktop products for Mac won't support macOS Monterey 12."

Is there anything that can be done or do I need to buy a new laptop to get Ventura 13 or later OS?

Thank you in advance for your time and attention to my inquiry. [End Quote]

Personally (me speaking now; no longer quoting someone else), back in 2022, I think it was, I did read TurboTax's warning that their new software would no longer be compatible with the older macOS's, for security reasons. I also read that my older Mac at the time could not be updated beyond the macOS I already had. Back then, I actually thought that Intuit said that TurboTax would no longer be compatible beginning with 2023 income taxes (in 2024).

Given that my Mac desktop was pretty old, and given that Apple likewise warned that it would no longer be providing security updates for my older macOS, I went ahead and bought a new Mac prior to filing my 2023 income taxes in 2024.

It turns out that either I misinterpreted the warnings that I read (ie, it appears I could have filed one more year -- 2023 -- on my older Mac) ... OR ... TurboTax decided to make one more older-Mac-compatible TurboTax program for 2023's taxes.

Anyway, this year, as people have written in that their TurboTax programs are crashing when they do various things that most us CAN do (versus using the Print button, which it most of CANNOT do), I have wondered if maybe the people whose programs are completely crashing are still using the older Mac's with macOS's that are no longer supported by Apple (security update-wise) and are therefore no longer compatible with TurboTax.

Just a wonder. Perhaps all of those people have newer Mac's and updated software, just like I do. It's striking how many problems there are this year! And many of them seem to be on Macs.
