After you file

You will enter your Form 1099-INT into TurboTax in the "Wages and Income" section under "Interest and Dividends" . It will be the same as entering a 1099-INT issued by a private payer.

 

This interest is taxable on both your state and federal tax returns.

 

You can enter your Form 1099-INT information using the steps below.

 

For TurboTax Desktop:

  1. Open/continue your return
  2. Click on "Search
  3. And in the search bar type"1099-INT"
  4. Select "Jump to 1099-INT"
  5. It will ask, "Did you have investment income in 2024?" Select "Yes"
  6. Select "Continue"
  7. Select "Skip Import" in TurboTax Desktop
  8. You will Select your investment type which is "Interest", the box will turn green when you click on it
  9. You will "Continue"
  10. Then you will see the screen "Let's get the info from your 1099-INT"
  11. You will type in the information from your Form 1099-INT on that page.

For TurboTax Online:

  1. Open/continue your return
  2. Click on magnifying glass for Search in the top right of your screen
  3. And in the search bar type"1099-INT"
  4. Select "Jump to 1099-INT"
  5. Click on "Add Investments"
  6. On the next screen click on "Enter a Different Way"
  7. You will Select your investment type which is "Interest", the box will turn green when you click on it
  8. Click on "Continue"
  9. Choose "Type it myself"
  10. Then you will see the screen "Let's get the info from your 1099-INT"
  11. You will type in the information from your Form 1099-INT on that page.

 

Your screens will look something like this:

 

Type "1099-INT" in the search bar.

 

 

Click on the box that says interest, it will turn green.
