After you file
You will enter your Form 1099-INT into TurboTax in the "Wages and Income" section under "Interest and Dividends" . It will be the same as entering a 1099-INT issued by a private payer.
This interest is taxable on both your state and federal tax returns.
You can enter your Form 1099-INT information using the steps below.
For TurboTax Desktop:
- Open/continue your return
- Click on "Search"
- And in the search bar type"1099-INT"
- Select "Jump to 1099-INT"
- It will ask, "Did you have investment income in 2024?" Select "Yes"
- Select "Continue"
- Select "Skip Import" in TurboTax Desktop
- You will Select your investment type which is "Interest", the box will turn green when you click on it
- You will "Continue"
- Then you will see the screen "Let's get the info from your 1099-INT"
- You will type in the information from your Form 1099-INT on that page.
For TurboTax Online:
- Open/continue your return
- Click on magnifying glass for Search in the top right of your screen
- And in the search bar type"1099-INT"
- Select "Jump to 1099-INT"
- Click on "Add Investments"
- On the next screen click on "Enter a Different Way"
- You will Select your investment type which is "Interest", the box will turn green when you click on it
- Click on "Continue"
- Choose "Type it myself"
- Then you will see the screen "Let's get the info from your 1099-INT"
- You will type in the information from your Form 1099-INT on that page.
Your screens will look something like this:
Type "1099-INT" in the search bar.
Click on the box that says interest, it will turn green.
