Generally, however, you can e-file a current year amended federal return via TurboTax if your original return was also e-filed in TurboTax - once the form becomes available.
See this tool for information about the availability of forms in TurboTax. As of now, Form 1040X for amended returns is projected to become available on February 13, 2025, subject to change.
However, there's a chance your return can't be e-filed based on your unique situation. If this happens, you'll need to print and mail your tax return.
If you're amending your return for 2023 or earlier, you need to print and mail your amended return. Follow these instructions to amend a prior-year return.
