Accidentally Included the Entirety of my UberEats Expenses Into Line 10 Instead of Itemizing Them, Should I Amend?
Hello, everybody! It's been a few weeks since I've e-filed my tax return, but I was very sick at the time and my head wasn't in the game so to speak, leading me to make a silly mistake that may or may not bite me.
Since UberEats didn't provide me with a 1099-K or NEC, I had to make do with the end of fiscal year tax chart. I checked it, typed in both my gross income and expenses, and called it a day. Now, unfortunately, since I'm an idiot, I forgot to itemize the deductions across my Schedule C and only entered the lump sum on the first page on Line 10, making the amount $4385 instead of spreading it out like the following:
Uber Service Fees: $4348
Sales Tax and other Taxes: $20
Other Miscellaneous Charges: $17
Should I be leaving this be, or should I go ahead and amend it? If I were to go with the latter option, my tax liability wouldn't change at all, so I feel like it'd be unnecessary but considering that I just made such a dumb error, I'm honestly not sure if I should trust my gut. I went online and saw that a few others decided to lump sum their expenses as well, without any issues apparently, but I honestly don't know. Any suggestions?
