Note that in order to get the Coinbase option you have to have started your tax return from the link in Step 1 in the TurboTax article.
But the IRS pays your refund in U.S. dollars. All that TurboTax is doing is giving you an easy way to send those dollars to your Coinbase account. You can accomplish the same thing by getting your refund by direct deposit to your bank account, then transferring the dollars to your Coinbase account.
