Did you already file the tax return without the school's tax ID? If you e-filed it, was it accepted? Amending a tax return means filing a special form, Form 1040-X, to make changes to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted. If you have not filed your tax return, or your e-file was rejected, you do not amend it. You just enter the missing information in TurboTax and file again.
