After you file
You entered these as energy efficient improvements into the system? Once they are entered in as energy efficient improvements to your main home you should receive a non-refundable tax credit. If you owe any taxes that will reduce your tax bill.
If you don't owe any taxes then the energy efficient credits can't increase your refund. They can only reduce your tax bill. So it is possible to put in the improvements and not see any change to your refund. You should still amend the return, though, because if the credits aren't used this year they will roll over to next year.
