If you started to amend your federal tax return and would like to disregard the amendment, please follow these steps to correctly "unamend" your federal return:
- Open your return.
- Switch to Forms mode.
- In the left pane, select "Form 1040X", and "Delete"
- Follow the prompts to remove the 1040X from your return.
- Switch back to interview mode by selecting "Step-by-Step" in the upper right corner of your screen.
- Important: Undo any changes you made to your return after you selected the option to amend your return, as deleting your 1040X won't undo those entries.
