Amending return that was filed using maiden (not current) name
Interesting situation, last year I field with my wife jointly return, she used her maiden name. Back then it was her name on SSA, Driving License, at work and on tax related forms. Then she changed to a married name and now it's on SSA, DL, work, tax forms. So this year is easy, we will use her new name now.
BUT.. unfortunately we need to amend last year (2022) tax return. The change is to only add one more form (1098-T), and that's it. We also change the address since then.
My question is, should we also change her last name on this amendment to the married name? Or, should we leave old maiden name as it is? The argument for leaving the old one, is that it was the "current" name at the time of original filling and we don't really want to change original return. Just add one more form. On the other hand we will put new address on the amendment, since it's just not comfortable to use old address where we can't receive mails anymore.
Also, a followup question. Just before sending return (online) TurboTax asks for Driving License data. Should we leave old DL data, with old name? Or use new DL data? It asks for expiration and issuance dates there.
Thanks for advice
