Yes, people are experiencing longer waits for their refunds this year. But it's difficult to get the IRS to tell you exactly what is happening with your return. 

 

If there is an issue with your return, the IRS will send you a letter explaining the problem and‌ may ask you to take ‌action to help resolve it. For example, some taxpayers are asked to provide proof of their identity before the refund is released. 

 

In most cases, the IRS can resolve the issue without help from the taxpayer. 
 

As always, you can use the Where's my refund?  to track your refund after it is accepted.
