Turbo Tax does not account for the composition of California and non-California municipal bonds when calculating state taxes owed on withdrawls from those funds, generating extra taxes and fees from the state. This appears to be a systemic error in TurboTax over several years which downloads the data directly from the brokerage and assures the user that the return is correct. Even worse it seems impossible to actually talk to anyone at Turbo Tax, I get cut off and phone calls are not returned.
