After you file
@LindaS5247 Unfortunately your response adds no assistance to the issue being discussed, it simply reiterated what we have all stated is inaccurate and/or incomplete TT information.
The AMENDED returns, if you read the details of the thread, meet all of the requirements for e-filing. It is within the 3 year window and the original return was e-filed with TurboTax, and the original return has been processed.
TT allows us to create the amended return and STATES it IS ELIGIBLE and after completing validation it presents the Transmit Now button, only then does it say the date of signing must be between 1/1/22 and 12/31/22 (for a 2022 return).
There is a software issue. Either the developers have put in place conditions of validation that they haven't shared with anyone else on the planet so we don't know what they are testing for, or their current validation code simply has an error in it, i.e. they are processing incorrectly on the last step of date validation.
The amended return I was attempting to e-file in April 2023, was for the 2021 and it is a VERY SIMPLE tax return for my college-aged kidult. I can't imagine what complexity it has in it that "might" make it not eligible. It's one of the simplest tax return you can file, actually probably would have been faster to write it out than fill out TT.
To restate previous notes, the software says the amended return is eligible to be e-filed. Yet it fails due to a [false] validation being enforced by the software that the signature date must be inside the calendar year of the ORIGINAL filing. It should instead be validating that the signature is within THREE years of the filing date of the original return (with extensions factored in).
