After you file
Yes, you can enter a six digit IP PIN. Here's how to do that:
- Sign in to your account and open your return.
- Scroll down to Other Tax Situations, select the down arrow to the right.
- Select Review/ Edit.
- Select the down arrow to the right of Other Return Info
- Select Start or Update to the right of Identity Protection PIN.
- Answer the first question Yes.
- Select Add to the right of your name.
- Enter the number on the next screen.
- At this point, you can continue your tax return.
The five digit PIN at the end of the return is a substitute for a pen and ink signature.
