The 2023 form 5695 implementing the 2022 inflation reduction act has been available on the IRS website since February 2023. what is Intuit's excuse to be a year behind?
the turbotax questions about home energy efficiency credits still assume that we are entitled to 10% of cost of residential building property up to a lifetime cap of 300, rather than an annual credit of 30% of cost capped separately at 1200 for insulation/home envelope, 2000 for energy efficient improvements like heat pumps, and other sub-caps within the 3200. The IRS form giving effect to the legal changes applicable for these expenses in 2023 was published by the IRS in February 2023. It is now late January 2024. Is this not embarrassing to a company that charges money to customers and claims to get them the biggest refund to which they are entitled? Turbo tax would have me forgo almost 3000 dollars in tax credits.
