Thanks! Still have a question... as of right now, we just gave the IRS an extra $500. Will that get refunded back?
- Example (not actual numbers), we owed $1500 for 2022.
- Filed an extension April 2023 using freefile and paid $500, so should only owe $1000 now.
- IRS accepted the $500 in April 2023.
- Filed taxes Oct 2023 and had to pay $1500 through TurboTax, because TT did not see the $500 payment.
- In total, we paid $2000 instead of the correct $1500.
Hope that makes more sense.
