I found out that I made some excess Roth IRA contributions for 2021 tax year, and made an amended tax return to pay the penalty with IRS Directpay confirmation number; however I got a letter from IRS about receipt of the amended tax return with the cheque from IRS with the same penalty amount. Anyone know why the IRS would return the penalty amount?
