After you file
To follow-up on the comments from @PattiF, perhaps you might amend the first return because that return has already been accepted--which means now you can amend it--and remove the dependent from the return. Then, you can prepare the return you had intended to prepare. As @PattiF explained, the fact that your second return was rejected means it was not filed and accepted and therefore, there is nothing to amend.
