After you file

Thank you for your response. I am trying to determine what is the right path. You're saying 5329 is not needed. 1) The brokerage firm where I keep Roth IRA has this statement: "Withdrawal of excess contribution:

If you withdraw an excess contribution, you are required to file IRS Form 5329 with your tax return." I did withdraw the excess contribution. It's gone from the account already. I reported it in TurboTax that I withdrew it by the tax deadline.

2) IRS instructions for form 5329 https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i5329.pdf says that people have to file 5329 in this case: "The contributions for 2022 to your traditional IRAs, Roth IRAs, Coverdell ESAs, Archer MSAs, HSAs, or ABLE accounts exceed your maximum contribution limit".

It looks like I have to file 5329. I can't make TurboTax do it. How do I file it?

Thank you again for responding. I still don't know what is the right thing to do. I am a student, started a Roth thinking it is the right thing to do, and did not expect this tax filing headache.
