After you file
As an addendum, say for example you earned $100,000 in the tax year. If you received (for example) $30,000 in scholarships, there is still no way that you provided more than half of your own support in that tax year. You would have had to of spent at least $30K of your own money in addition to spending the $30K of scholarship money on support. There's no way you're going to convince the IRS (or anyone else for that matter) that it took more than $60K for self-support for one person for a year.
