The IRS audited my 2016 return & got a refund, I didn't have to amend the return. Should I get a refund from California? Will the IRS contact the state with results?
I used Turbo Tax in 2016 & was audited because it added my Social Security income and Unemployment together. THe IRS thought I had not claimed my income for Social Secuirty. After showing the qlitch (not sure if it was human error or the program) to the IRS, I ended up getting $475. + interest back. It only took them 6 months to do this, LOL. I was told not to amend the return, the IRS was changing the error in their system. Should I also get a refund from the State? I am filing my taxes in 24 hours & if I owe them money I would like to subtract the 2016 refund due from what I owe. How do I correct my 2016 return in TurboTax?
