This response - and the TurboTax software - makes a HUGE assumption that you have actually received the refund from your original return. I have filed my 2020 return with an indicated refund of $3800. The IRS has not issued any refund to date. 2.5 years later I have finally been told that 1 number in 1 box needs to be moved to another box. The refund will not change - it is still $3800. However, it is IMPOSSIBLE to accomplish this in TurboTax due to the zeroing of the balances at the start of the amend process. I move the numbers as instructed and TurboTax still says that my refund is $0 when in reality it is $3800. I have no choice but to file a manual 1040-X.
