Yes, you can deduct sales tax paid on vehicles as part of itemized deductions, but whether you get any tax benefit from doing so, is another question.
This is where you enter the deduction for sales tax:
1. Select Federal from the left side menu.
2. Select Deductions and Credits.
3. Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid and expand the section.
4. To the right of Sales Tax, click Start or Revisit.
5. Select Continue with Sales Tax.
6. Select Easy Guide.
7. Answer the questions about where you lived.
8. On the screen Major Purchases, answer Yes.
9. Enter the information about your purchases.
10. Continue through the section and TurboTax will let you know which deduction is best for you.
