After you file
If by chance this is a new employer or a new EIN for the employer I have seen this happen at the IRS level as a rejection. In this situation you would have to mail your tax return.
If you have not been able to reach the stage of actually e-filing your return read the next steps. First clear the entry by placing your cursor there, then using the delete key until the entire number is gone (or highlight and click delete).
Next, clear your cache and cookies. It handles many issues that seem nonsensical on a regular basis.
- Close your TurboTax return first.
Watch to be sure you are selecting 'all time' as example. Do not use selections like 'last hour' for those browsers that give you options.
Once this is complete open your return and select to enter your income.
- Select Federal in the left menu and then Wages & Income, OR
- Search (upper right) type w2 > Jump to... link
- Type in the EIN - numbers only (do not enter the dash because it's automatic)
Please let us know if this changes your experience and you can move forward.
