Yes, you will need to amend your 2021return to claim the third stimulus payment. There is no stimulus payment in 2022 and no option to claim a missing payment from a prior year on the 2022 tax return

If you used TurboTax Online:

1. Log in to your account and select 2021, then Amend using TurboTax Online.
2. Answer the first few questions, then select your reason for amending.
3. Go to Federal Taxes in the upper left.
4. Select Federal Review and answer the questions about the third stimulus.
5. Continue until you have completed and submitted your amendment.

If you used our CD/download product:

1. Open your return and select “Amend a filed return.”
2. Answer the first few questions, then select your reason for amending.
3. Next add your childcare information.
4. Go to Federal Taxes in the upper left.
5. Select Federal Review and answer the questions about the third stimulus.
6. Continue until you have completed and submitted your amendment.
