Maybe. The American Opportunity Credit is available for your first four years of college education. Generally, the credit is taken as follows: Year 1 - Fall of your Freshman year Year 2 - Spring/Fall of Freshman/Sophomore year Year 3 - Spring/Fall of Sophomore/Junior year Year 4 - Spring/Fall of Junior/Senior Year If you did not follow this pattern, you may be able to amend and claim your Spring, 2017 tuition for the American Opportunity Credit. You may qualify for the Lifetime Learning Credit instead.
