Yes, you have to wait until accepted and paid.

- The IRS won't start accepting returns until January 23, and then usually you must wait a few weeks to get a refund, then amend. If your return is rejected you may input changes immediately, and clear up the reason it was rejected, for example, missing information, wrong AGI, among others.
Lastly, you can't cancel a pending return in TurboTax once transmitted or in the process of being transmitted, only once it is rejected, or accepted and you have received your refund, can you amend.
