After you file
You definitely need to file an amended return since your original is wrong. Options are:
- Go back to the person that did them wrong and have them correct it.
- If you have a Turbo Tax account from last year, you can log in and click amend. See how to file an amended return and follow from step 4 below.
- If you don't have a Turbo Tax account from last year, you will need to create one. See how to file prior year taxes.
- First, you will need to re-create the original return. Make sure it matches the original. Federal and state.
- Go all the way through the program and mark that you are mailing the return. Of course, you are NOT mailing the return, this just lets the system know that it was sent.
- Now, you can go back into the account and click on amend. See how to file an amended return.
- Take out all the wrong information and input the correct information. Make your return correct.
- Mail in the amended 1040x along with any current forms that are new or changed. Since you are eliminating the Schedule C for self employment, you will not mail it.
- Follow your1040x at track an amended return
- In addition, you may need to file a state return. See how at I need to amend my state return.
Since you must mail, tracking is recommended.
