After you file
Did everything you laid out, 4 or 5 times. The number went in where the question wanted it. Unfortunately, there is a software error that doesn't enter that number on the actual form. I had to open the forms and manually enter the number. The software should have done that. It is the purpose of the Q&A aspect of the software to take our answers and put the numbers we give onto the forms working in the background; that isn't happening in this Q&A user input box-an error in the software.
I appreciate the response, but Turbo Tax is what is stuck, not me. They need to correct errors in the program when they occur once they know there is a problem. This post was an attempt to get that error in their software to their debug techs. If anybody knows how to accomplish that, I'm all ears. As filing extensions is an annual event by a lot of users, one would hope they have an interest in fixing their software error.
Thanks for the response, it will be helpful to someone as this seems to be a long term error TT hasn't decided it's worth their time to fix.
