@360saragoforth = to clarify, the IRS processed all paper returns in the order received. What they annoucned this week is that they are now complete with all paper returns received through Dec, 2021, which is another way of saying they have yet to begin processing any 2021 tax returns (because they were all received in 2022!).
SO the good news is they are beginning to tackle 2021 tax returns, the bad news is the backlog is probably 6-9 months from the time the return was submitted until it is processed.
