After you file
more what? social security taxes. they're supposed to be 6.2% of social security wages imposed on a maximum of $142,800 box 3 on w-2 for 2020. if the employer withheld more than 6.2% then you have to get it back from them, not the IRS. it would seem in your circumstance you'll get no refund from the IRS. you're not required to file an amended return for this. to do so would be a waste of your time and money The Social Security Adm gets a copy of the W-2C to update your social security wages for retirement benefits.
