Just an FYI, since you were not in the US for at least 6 months, the child care credit rules are the same as pre-2021 (and what will be in place for 2022 if Congress does not act)
1) child must be under 17 years old (not under 18)
2) the credit is split up between Line 19 and line 28 (but if your income is high enough, it really doesn't matter)
3) so the simple case is the credit is worth $2000 per child (under the age of 17). If the child is 18-24 and in school, the credit is $500 on Line 19. Then in your case, less $2000 already received.
