IRS says I can file an amendment online years later, but Intuit won't let it process?

Is there a fix for this? Why is the IRS allowing e-filing of amendments but TurboTax isn't? Is there a workaround like downloading the TurboTax file to another Accounting system that another company uses to file? This seems backwards. If the IRS can accept it electronically years later, I would like to not print and mail it.
