How do I amend a return once its submitted and accepted? [desktop, Mac]
Hello!
First, I have read all the online documentation for how to amend a return... that being said, it isn't helpful. Here's the overview.
- I need to amend a return because I forgot a 1099-NEC and my AdvCTC payment
- This is 2021 tax year
- I have submitted federal and state taxes and they have been accepted
- I am using the desktop version, so no online instructions are needed.
Here is my issue - when I open my previous return it doesn't go to the home screen asking if I want to amend a return....it says "welcome back" and shows me the final screen with the e-filing status.
The home screen with options does show up if I start a NEW return and say "I'm amending a return." But that is making me update all of my personal information, etc, which doesn't seem correct, turbotax already has that information.
What am I missing here?
Do I open a previous return or start a new one and say "I'm amending"? Do I open a previous return and update the information in that and somehow it will know to amend (note - when I went down that route it didn't seem to work either)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated - I'm feel pretty frustrated right now by lack of documentation to help with this particular issue.
