I too, checked "no" to the question yet the $1400 still went in on line 30 as I was claiming the rebate. It appears it was set up for automatic claim of the stimulus check, which is great, but I wish I would have caught it.
After I received the the letter from the IRS, I made a mistake by amending my return by only checking "yes" to the question. At this time, the 1400 was removed from my account within two days after filing amendment. I never even had a chance to get my refund.
How can this be explained? And what can I do to correct it? The turbotax professional explained the amendment should not have gone through as it was too early. I just need to find out how this error can be fixed.
