Should I amend my return?
Hello. Last week I completed my taxes using turbo tax premier and then electronically filed my tax return. In that return I received a residential energy credit of $70 That was for a low E energy efficient window that I had installed in my home last summer. The cost of just the window was $700.00 When I entered the $700 in my tax return, turbo tax said I qualified for the residential energy credit equaling 10% of the cost of the window, which comes out to $70. Where I messed up was I only included the cost of 1 window, when in fact I purchased two at a cost of $700 each. Since I only entered one window in my return, does it make sense to amend my return to get that additional $70 credit? I've never amened a return and if I have to pay another e-file fee or other fee's, it doesn't seem like it would be worth the trouble. Your thoughts? How should I handle this or should I just forget about it? Thank you in advance for your help.
