After you file

Unfortunately, only the IRS knows the status of your tax return.  Here is what the IRS has to say about that letter, 4464C:

If you filed a return

  • You don't need to take any action. Please do not call us until 60 days after the letter date and only if you haven't received your refund or heard from us by then.
  • We recommend you review your return for any errors and file a corrected or amended return to correct the information.

You may want to

  • Review this letter with your tax preparer.   You prepared your own tax return if you used TurboTax so review your tax return to see if you entered something incorrectly.  If you did, you can amend the return.
  • Consider an IRS Identity Protection PIN to help prevent misuse of your taxpayer identification number on fraudulent federal income tax returns. Learn more at IRS.gov/ippin.
  • Contact Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) if you're experiencing an economic hardship or need help in resolving problems. You can reach TAS at 877-777-4778 or TTY/TTD 800-829-4059.
