After you file
Diane and other TT experts.
Last night, I filed electronically my amended return ($4,000 IRA mandatory withdrawal; filed before 1099-R arrived). Original return filed, accepted, and refund received; electronically.
My wife, whose SS number is primary died last September. Social Security was notified and those monthly payments were discontinued.
For the 1040-X I followed the TT instructions and TT said OK to file electronically, with a direct withdrawal on April 18, 2022, the deadline.
Here is the Rejection email received this morning from TT.
"IND-901 - The Primary SSN in the Return Header has been locked because Social Security Administration records indicate the number belongs to a deceased individual." This is true.
Does that mean I will have to paper file the 1040-X or, preferably, I would rather file electronically. Thanks.
