After you file
The third stimulus check was for $1400 per taxpayer on your return in 2021. If there are two people on your return (you and a spouse or you and a child, etc.), your total stimulus payment should have been for $2800. If you received less than that, last year when they were sending out checks, you would need to have claimed the remainder on your 2021 tax return.
Look at your Form 1040, Line 30. That is your recovery rebate. The refund you should have received (assuming everything was correctly entered on your tax return) is on Line 34.
If you were expecting $2800, you told the IRS that you did not receive the 3rd stimulus for 2 people. And if you only received $1400. they only sent a 3rd stimulus payment for one person. This would indicate they have different information on file. You can have them track payments through your IRS Online Account.
