After you file
If you didn't receive any advance child tax credit payments then you might be able to qualify for the full Child Tax Credit amount on your 2021 tax return. If you have filed your return you can see your remaining Child Tax Care Credit amount on line 28 of Form 1040.
You can get up to
- $3,600 per qualifying child under 6
- $3,000 per qualifying child age 6–17
Please be aware, if your modified adjusted gross income (AGI) is more than,
- $150,000 if you're Married Filing Jointly or a Qualifying Widow
- $112,500 if you're filing as Head of Household, or
- $75,000 if you're Married Filing Separately or Single
then your Child Tax Credit will be reduced. Please see What is the Child Tax Credit? for additional details.
Please see Why did the TurboTax Refund Meter change after filing?
If you are referring that the refund you received from the IRS is different than what is shown in TurboTax then the IRS will send you a letter about why they made changes.
