I filed my 2021 Federal tax return on 2-5-2022 using Efile and have already received a refund. I have not filed my 2021 NJ state refund because a form will not be available until 2-17-2021. I see that when I load turbo tax on my laptop there is an option to file an amended return so I loaded my turbo tax file and made the necessary change. when I look at the forms that would be produced, they are the 1040 and not the 1040X? is it too early to file the amended return for tax year 2021? How will I know when I can file an amended federal return for tax year 2021? Can I file the amended return electronically? I aleady received my federal refund for tax year 2021. After I do the amended return I will still have a tax refund so do I just pay back to the IRS the difference and can I do this electronically or do I have to mail them back a check?
