Amended 2019 federal return is automatically populating with old 2018 federal return data.
In my original 2018 return, I elected to go with itemized deductions instead of the standard mileage deduction for my rideshare income due a math error on my part when tabulating all costs vs mileage. Unfortunately, once you make this election, you're locked in for that deduction on all future tax returns. Once I realized my mistake, I subsequently filed an amendment for 2018 to revert to the standard mileage deduction, which was successfully confirmed by a letter from the IRS in Sept 2021.
Now, when I go to make the same amendment to my 2019 return, it automatically populates the original 2018 return with the itemized deductions as opposed to the standard mileage in the amended return, and there's no other way for me to manually change it. I've attempted to amend my 2019 return via the online portal and through the desktop application, but both automatically import the old 2018 return instead of the amended one.
Additionally, trying to "trick" the desktop application into accepting my 2019 amendment by disconnecting from the internet and manually entering all the data myself doesn't work because the application requires internet access in order to function.
All of these returns and amendments were done through TurboTax Self-Employed Online.
How do I amend my 2019 return with the amended 2018 data?
