Hi xmasbaby0. I had not filed taxes for a number of years due to medical/memory problems that have now been resolved. I contacted the IRS with the intent to rectify the situation. They in turn sent me a notice that I still owed for a $5000 first time home buyers credit in 2008! I paid it but now I can't prove it. So I am trying to get both my 2008 and 2009 returns. I am now also working with a tax attorney trying to get this settled.
Thank you though for warning me about the scams. I have been pretty vigilant about watching out for those and NEVER give out information over the phone.
