Accepted only means the IRS got it which is the good news. sorry, but 102 days is not long when you consider that some taxpayers have been waiting for more than 6 months. the IRS is overloaded - too many returns, not enough employees (it's having the same problem hiring as many other employers looking for employees), and an antiquated computer system. it doesn't help when the US Congress has not adequately funded the IRS. since 2010 funding for the IRS has been cut by 20% in inflation-adjusted dollars. the number of equivalent full-time employees has gone from about 95,000 in 2010 to about 75,000 today.
