After you file
I think you are not understanding me. When I filed my 2019 return I marked I was a dependent even though I was not. This means for the first 2 payments in 2020 I was not seen as eligible because I put I was a dependent. I filed my 2020 return with no dependent claim and added the recovery rebate. The IRS adjusted my return to not include the $1,800 because I was a dependent in 2019. So if I change my 2019 to make me not a dependent will that mean I can get the recovery rebate? I sent in letters and documents to show I wasn’t a dependent in 2019 but that was 2 months ago and the IRS has no answers for what or when anything will happen.
