After you file
This didn't solve the problem.
-I'm adding a W-2 I did not include in my original return.
-Yes, the first was originally filed through TT.
-Yes, when I click on Forms, and click on the Form 1040-x, it's blank. We know it shouldn't be this way because if instead of opening your old return and trying to amend it, you start a new return and start the amending process, the 1040-x doc will slowly start to fill up. This error also shows up at the end when you try to e-file (even though the 1040-x doc is blank and it says "You have no returns eligible for e-filing"
The flaw in the Turbo Tax software seems to be that the 1040-x doc does not update with new information during the amending process so there's no way to file an amended return.
-I tried this both before the update and after all new updates and it still will not amend the return.
-There is no option to delete the 1040-x form. If you try under 'Edit' it doesn't allow it. Plus, you would need that document for an amended return, right?
-I have tried the 'Amend a filed return' with maybe 5-6 TurboTax representatives. Neither way works. 1.) If you try starting with the filed return, and try amending it, the 1040-x doc is never changed, the e-file doesn't work, and there's nothing saying this is an amended return. 2.) If you try going through the process you just wrote above by starting with a blank account and clicking 'amend a return', there is no option to import your 2020 taxes. This is a big problem multiple TurboTax representatives couldn't figure out. So you're amending but you're starting from scratch and if you add a new w-2, you're left without the needed profile information it asks of you and you're stuck. I have shared my screen and walked through both options step by step with Turbo Tax reps who don't know how it works and they cannot come up with a solution.
